$11.7 Mil Default Judgement Against Spamhaus

Illinois District Court Judge, Hon. Charles P. Kocoras, awarded e360 Insight LLC company a default judgement of over $11 million against Spamhaus Project for blacklisting company’s IP addresses and marking company’s email as spam.

Court order

Spamhaus was also ordered to remove company’s ROKSO record and ordered Spamhaus to post a notice stating that the plaintiff is “not a spammer”.

The court stated Spamhaus initially defended the case but later its attorneys withdrew their appearance and took no further actions to challenge the allegations. Thus a default judgement was granted.

Spamhaus refused to carry out the verdict, stating the Illinois court had no jurisdiction over this matter since Spamhaus is a British-based organization and the court order could not be enforced under the British legal system.
