10 Things to Know When Applying for Job at Google
Following an exellent article in Wall Street Journal about Google hiring process, here are a few things to consider when applying for a job at the search giant:
1. In average, Google hires 16 employees a day.
2. An average candidate goes through 5.1 in-person interviews.
3. At least one of the founders, Brin and Page, “reviews every job offer recommended by an internal hiring committee on a weekly basis”.
4. College degree is indeed a factor.
5. Over a month can pass between interviews (so don’t give up).
6. You may be treated to lunch in the cafeteria, get a Google t-shirt, notebook and a pen.
7. You may also get a “homework” assignment.
8. According to a survey with Googlers, the age at which they first used a computer was an issue.
9. And, yes, Google did increase the standards by which they select new people.
10. At Google, it is good to be overqualified.
